Mr. Gracey, is the elder brother of Sister T, a retired History teacher and a widower.  Gracey pretends to still be in love with his deceased wife of twenty years, often reminiscing over her picture locket. His aggravating, outspoken opinions often get him into trouble with others, especially family members.

Sister T is the elder sister of Mr. Gracey, mother of LaVell and Auntie to Kearney; Jeff and Howard.  She owns the Exotic Dance Club on Harper Street where she used to dance for many years.  Sister T sassy, flamboyant gestures help describe her zealous free spirit.   but fines that often her own opinion that often causes spats with her brother Gracey.

LaVell is the son of Sister T.  He’s single, level-headed and is a fifth grade math teacher.  He later discovers that his student Kyla is his daughter from a previous relationship.  His love for his family is very important to him and keeping the peace by any means necessary” is his motto.

Kearney is Howard’s mother, Jeff’s sister; LaVell’s first cousin and the niece of Uncle Gracey and Sister T.  Kearney is a divorcee who owns a consignment store in her neighborhood.  She often finds herself in a dilemma when choosing the right man.  Her unseemly inclination to live her life through her son Howard has made him co-dependent.
